Yara’s new home feels nothing like the one she left behind, the sounds, the smells, even the sky seem different. But when her teacher asks the class to share something special from their families, Yara realises that some things never get left behind.
Yara’s Gift is a story of courage, kindness, and the magic of sharing who we are, a gentle reminder that we’re never truly strangers. Yara’s Gift is ideal for ages 6–10, and perfect to read aloud with younger children. The story and illustrations make it engaging and meaningful for readers of all ages.

About the Author
Azad is a writer, humanitarian, and advocate who believes stories can open hearts. Made by people who have lived this story
Yara’s Gift was written and illustrated by people with lived experience of displacement. Not from the outside looking in, but from within the journey itself – from memory, loss, hope, and the work of beginning again. This book was made to honour those stories, and to show that home, memory and hope travel with us.
